Seeking: Young UK couple looking for regen farmwork experience in NZ

My boyfriend Dan and I cast off in pursuit of time to nurture our passions. For both of us, one of those passions is regenerative farming, though we come from different tracks.

We are arriving in NZ in July and are looking for farmhand roles (full time, part time or job share between us), on a regenerative farm. Ideally we would love to lend a hand across all aspects of work across the farm but also with a learning/mentoring element as we are keen to develop a holistic understanding and take these practices home with us.

Before setting off [on our travels] I was working for the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, an NGO whose mission is to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. Since 1 of the 3 pillars of a circular economy is "regenerate natural systems" much of my work looked at food and biomaterial systems. My role was primarily to develop a roadmap which was used to assess and advise large corporations on their progress in this transition. Discussions on transitioning to regenerative sourcing and production were therefore a frequent part of my day-to-day. The more I researched and communicated the need for a regenerative transition, the more I felt the need to learn on a practical basis and get my hands in the soil.

Dan, on the other hand, is a farmer's son. He grew up on a mixed cattle farm. After leaving university, he ran the family farm for a year before completing a masters in law. He is now working to specialise in environmental and human rights law. Alongside this ambition, Dan maintains his interest in farming and is inspired by the potential of the regenerative movement - both globally in the context of his family farm.
