Further information

Mangaroa Farms is offering its classic Market Garden tour where you can see how they grow, connect with community, and learn something new.

Meet at the Mangaroa Farms Shop / Kete Kai at 98 Whitemans Valley Road, Upper Hutt 5371.

One of the friendly guides will take you on a 45-minute tour through the stunning market garden, including a visit to the Wash & Pack area, where you'll see how the produce is cleaned and prepared. You'll also explore the tunnel house and gain insight into regenerative growing practices.

This immersive meander through the garden operation will give you a clear understanding of what is being grown, the methods being used, and perhaps how you could implement these strategies at home or your own community garden.

There will be time for a short Q & A with one of the garden team, who will be able to provide details and experience, plus answer any specialty garden related questions.

All guests will have a chance to visit the Farm Shop / Kete Kai (open 11am - 5pm) to collect farm goods to take home.

As an additional experience, the Farm Loop walk is available to tour guests. To do the whole loop is about 3.5km across farmland and along the beautiful Mangaroa River. An accessible and shorter option is to walk approximately 1km (round trip) to the top of the hill on the farm, and turn around and return to the shop. Please note that the Farm Loop is not accessible for wheelchairs or other special requirements. The track is made of thick gravel stones and is very step in places.
