Dr Gwen Grelet

Former QS Voluntary and Independent Science Advisor Dr Gwen Grelet has worked as a lead a research scientist at Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research (NZ) since 2013. She obtained her PhD in 2002 at the University of Aberdeen (Scotland, UK).

She is the recipient of multiple prestigious fellowships for example from NSERC in 2003 to work with the Pacific Agri-Food Research Centre in British Columbia (Canada), a Marie Curie international outgoing fellowship in 2010 where she began her collaboration with ecologists at Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research (NZ) and Harvard University (USA), and an OECD fellowship in 2019 hosted by UC Merced (USA).

Her research track record and expertise includes the genetics and ecology of plant beneficial fungi (Mycorrhizae), soil health with emphasis on soil molecular ecology, agroecology and more recently the leading of transdisciplinary projects focussed on the understanding and quantification of environmental, economic, social and cultural outcomes of regenerative farming systems in NZ, Australia and the USA.
