How to reply in a thread
And what is a thread anyway!
WHAT ARE THREADS?
When responding to a post in The Dig you have two options:
post directly in the channel
reply in a thread
What’s a thread? It’s a like a side conversation with a couple of benefits:
it keeps all the replies relating to one post in one place
it reduces notifications - notification of new thread replies don't go to the whole channel
Instead, notification of new thread replies are sent to only:
the person who made the original post
anyone who’s replied in the thread
anyone who’s @mentioned in the thread
HOW TO USE THREADS
To start a new thread:
mobile: tap on the post you want to reply to - it’ll open a thread ready for your reply (use the back arrow top left or swipe right to return to the channel)
desktop: hover over the post you want to reply to - click the ‘reply in thread’ icon (a speech bubble) to create a thread- To join an existing thread: look for the ‘X replies’ in blue at the bottom of a post - click to open the thread
To join an existing thread:
Look for the ‘X replies’ in blue at the bottom of a post (see first image) - click to open the thread.
HOW TO CHECK FOR NEW THREAD CONTENT
