This workshop will be facilitated by Harry Millar from Rural Consulting.

  • Leave with a sound understanding of what is required to meet the Nutrient Management and Soil Health section of the NZFAP PLUS standard and why these requirements exist.

  • Update from a FAR representative on some of the recent trials relating to soil health and nutrient management.

  • Understand what current and new technologies are available to assist you with nutrient and soil health management.

  • Gain a practical demonstration on how to complete a Visual Soil Assessment (VSA) and what they tell us about soil health and hear from Dr Charles Merfield about the importance of soil health and the latest science on what you can do to best improve you soils without the use of fertilizer.

  • Hear firsthand from a local farmer how they have been adapting their farm system to increase soil health and the economics involved.

  • An opportunity to sit down for a 1-1 session with a consultant from Rural Consulting Ltd to cover the following:
    - Update of Overseer Nutrient Budget in preparation for audit/farm system change.
    - Gain access to templates/resources which support the monitoring of soil health.
    - Discuss NZFAP PLUS requirements and what is required to be audit ready.
