Selwyn Waihora Water Zone Committee and Quorum Sense are hosting an information day for curious farmers to learn more about the benefits of regenerative farming practices.
Subjects covered will include:
Improved farm practices and management for healthier soils and freshwater
Alternative & innovative wintering options with cost comparisons
Soil health and how it impacts on-farm resilience to climate change and extreme weather events
Low nitrogen all grass systems and multi-species pastures
Techniques to help meet criteria for reducing GHG emissions
The day will involve a morning workshop held at Glentunnel Community Centre followed by a field trip to Scarlett dairy farm who are using regenerative farming practices.

PM Farm visit to Scarletts’ dairy farm, Hororata
3pm Event closed and refreshments on farm

Dr Charles ‘Merf’ Merfield - Future Farming Trust, BHU, Lincoln University-discussing soil & plant health
Deane & Melissa- dairy farmers talking about changes they have made on farm, new wintering systems and the benefits they have had.
Canaan Ahu from Soil Matters talking about nutrients and soil fertility
