Katie Vickers
QS Board Member Katie Vickers grew up on a sheep and beef farm north of Kaikoura and her upbringing led her to a passion for the land and eventually a career in Agribusiness. Katie’s love for the land and the opportunities it creates is what motivates her to keep improving our relationship with our natural capital.
She is on a mission to help regenerate our planet through influencing business practice and helping to close the gap between purpose, people and profit. Katie cares deeply about the relationship between soil health and human health. After completing the nRhythm Regenerative Leadership course, she is now driven to re-think how we tackle some of our challenges in the food and fibre sector and how she can make a meaningful contribution to propelling the sector into the future.
Katie’s role as Sustainability Manager is to drive the development and execution of Rabobank’s sustainability related strategic activities in New Zealand as an essential part of the Rabobank Group’s Banking for Food strategy. She is excited by the opportunity that the finance sector has, in influencing and supporting resilient farming systems.
Katie and her partner have moved from the city life to Fairlie where they live and enjoy the balance of on and off-farm work. Her partner, Luc, is an Agronomist and works a couple of days on the family farm.
Outside of work Katie enjoys spending time with friends and family, a good glass of wine and getting outdoors whether it’s up the mountain or out walking in our epic back yard.
